The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the group access locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
